ALEA ENSEMBLE

Who we are

We are a string quartet that plays on original instruments and forms the core of an ensemble of varying combinations; like faces on dice, alea’s numbers can change.

In 2000, we decided to join paths in a wish to explore the chamber music repertory and performance practice of the Classical and Romantic periods.

What we play

We play instruments with historically informed set-ups and antique bows - or copies thereof - with details which reflect the ‘transitional’ period between the 1700 and 1800s.

Grande davvero la prova dell’AleaEnsemble, finissimo gruppo strumentale e uno dei pochi quartetti oggi in Italia ad utilizzare gli strumenti montati secondo la prassi settecentesca/post-barocca e un diapason di conseguenza appropriato. Trasmettere la gioia del far rivivere l’antica formazione, secondo le più aggiornate prassi filologiche, caratterizza tutta la generosa durata del CD (superiore ai 70 minuti) e ne assicura un godimento totale.
